The Ha Giang Discovery Marathon 2023 is taking place in the 5th year, organized by the People’s Committee of Ha Giang Province in collaboration with the New Race Jungle Joint Stock Company (Race Jungle) with expertise in organizing professional Vietnam races meeting international standards.

Explore the breathtaking natural beauty of Ha Giang province with the Ha Giang Discovery Marathon tour! This four-day and three-night running tour will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes in the north of Vietnam. You will be running through the awe-inspiring mountain passes, picturesque mountainous villages, and lush green forests of Dong Van and Meo Vac districts. You will also have the chance to learn about the unique culture and customs of the H’mong and Dao people.

The tour of Ha Giang discovery marathon will begin with an orientation session in the bustling city of Ha Noi. After that, we will drive straight to Ha Giang city and set off on the marathon routes. This will cover some different marathon distances (6Km, 12Km, 21Km, 42Km) in four days, running through some of the most beautiful parts of Dong Van rocky plateau. You will be able to take in the breathtaking views of the rice terraces, the jagged mountains, and the lush green forests.

You will have the chance to stay in traditional H’mong and Dao villages, giving you the unique opportunity to learn more about the local culture and customs. You will also get to sample the delicious local cuisine, and spend some time exploring the unique markets.

Day 1 (October 6, 2023 – Starting Day): Ha Noi – Ha Giang City – Quan Ba District

6:30: Pick up at hotels in Hanoi or Noi Bai international airport, depart for Ha Giang Discovery Marathon tour.

11:00: Have lunch in Tan Yen town, Tuyen Quang province

14:00: Arrive at Ha Giang city, check in and take photos at Zero Milestone of Ha Giang

16:00: Stop at Bac Sum viewpoint for panorama views and Quan Ba Heaven Gate, take pictures of Quan Ba Twin Mountain and panoramic view of Tam Son town from above

17:00: Check in hotel for a rest.

19:00: Have dinner and relax.

Day 2 (October 7, 2023 – Expo Day): Yen Minh District – Meo Vac Town – Check-in Ha Giang Discovery Marathon

6:30: Have breakfast and depart to visit Dong Van Rocky Plateau. On the way, stop to visit some attractions:

• Lung Tam traditional brocade weaving village of H’Mong in Quan Ba district
• A lonely ancient tree at Can Ty pass in Quan Ba district
• The typical house of the H’Mong people with rocky fences around the house in Pho Cao and Pho Bang, Dong Van district
• Ancient houses of Pao- the filming studio of same name at Lung Cam village in Sung La commune, Dong Van district

Noon: Have lunch in Dong Van ancient town

Afternoon: Visit Ma Pi Leng pass on the way to Meo Vac district.

16:00 – 17:00: Race information guide for runners at the Stadium of Meo Vac district then check in homestay in Pa Vi cultural ethnic minority village

Evening: Have dinner and leisure time.

Day 3 (October 8, 2023 – Race Day): Meo Vac District Stadium – Ma Pi Leng Pass

Morning: Get up early for hot coffee, tea and ready for running race

04:00am – 05:00am: The runners of 42.195 km and 21.0975 km mark the starting line from Meo Vac stadium

05:15am – 05:30am: The runners concentrate and warm up for 42,195 km at Pa Vi Ha community cultural and tourism village

Afternoon: Visit Ma Pi Leng Pass – one of the “Four Great Pass” in the North of Vietnam. Check in Nho Que river and take a boat ride along Nho Que river, admire the majestic scenery of Tu San alley.

After boat trip. We will drive back Dong Van ancient town. Check in hotel and have a rest

Evening: Have dinner and discover Dong Van ancient town at night. Enjoy foot massage with herbal medicine leaves of Dzao people.

Day 4 (October 9, 2023 – Finishing Day): Vuong Palace – Lung Cu Flag Pole – Lo Lo Village – Ha Noi

Morning: Have breakfast and visit hills-tribe market at Dong Van town then check out hotel room

Visit the house of Vuong family (known as Vuong’s palace, the king of H’Mong people) with its unique architecture and listen to our guide introduce about the family historical events stories and the life of the king.

Visit the picturesque Lung Cu Flag Pole and Lo Lo ethnic village to learn about the local life, their culture, custom and tradition. You will admire the ancient beauty of the ancient village with the typical Trinh Tuong houses (earthern walls houses with rocky fence surrounded) and you will interact with the friendly people here.

Noon: Have lunch in Sung La commune and take a rest before driving back Ha Giang city.
